Thomas (Tom) F. Locke, BA Insolvency Administrator
Professional: My career in the insolvency field started in 1995 at Credit Counselling London. While working at Credit Counselling I completed the Insolvency Counsellors Qualification Course through Ryerson. After spending several years as an accredited Credit Counsellor, I obtained a position at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) working as an Estate Administrator. It was while working at PwC that I completed the Insolvency Administrator programme of professional studies and I first enrolled in the National Insolvency Qualifying Programme (NIQP). During the spring of 2002 I made the decision to leave PricewaterhouseCoopers to continue developing my career at Adamson & Associates Inc. The appeal of moving to a smaller firm was largely the more personal level of service and interaction with clients. I enjoy having the opportunity to follow an insolvency matter all the way through from the initial consultation to the final discharge of the debtor. Since 1995 I have been able to derive great satisfaction from helping people to find solutions to their financial problems. It is always rewarding when I hear people make comments like “ I was so stressed out before I met you “ or “ Thanks, you have really put me at ease “. I feel that it is important not to lose sight of the fact that most people who experience financial |
hardships are not in that situation by design. The majority of people who experience financial difficulties also experience other stresses such as a marital breakdown, the loss of a job or the failure of a business.
Personal: I have been involved in the sport of Taekwondo for many years and have taught, trained and coached Taekwondo athletes who have successfully competed at Provincial, National and International events. I still dedicate some of my spare time to assisting with teaching and coaching duties at the Tri Star Taekwondo club in Lambeth. Fitness is very important to me and I try to work out several times each week at my local YMCA where I focus on cardio and toning with light weights. In September of 2005 I successfully competed in a Half Marathon Race sponsored by Hospice of London. While my finish time was less than spectacular (I certainly didn't set any records) I was very happy just to have finished the grueling event. The volunteers and race marshals were all amazing, as the distance seemed to grow and the pace became more difficult there always seemed to be someone there to support and encourage. Kind of reminds me of Johns slogan for our firm With You Every Step of the Way and I can tell you, that is good to know. "I am Canadian born, but I grew up in England NO!!!! It is NOT an Australian accent, ha ha ha and I love to go back to London, England, for a vacation whenever I can." |
