Bankruptcy and St. Thomas’ History

The railway has been a part of St. Thomas since 1856 with the completion of the London and Port Stanley Railway. Since then, a total of 26 rail companies have passed through St. Thomas, making it the ‘Railway Capital of Canada’. Many of these companies became insolvent or were financially restructured.

With the decline of the railway as a mode of transportation, other industry, principally automotive manufacturing, began to locate in or around St. Thomas, Ontario. Unfortunately, the auto industry suffered significantly in the recession that began in 2008 and St. Thomas underwent a number of plant closings. The implications of these closures caused a financial burden for many St. Thomas residents.

Our St. Thomas bankruptcy, insolvency, Consumer Proposal and restructuring experts have been there for the people of St. Thomas, Ontario through both the good and the bad economic times and we are there for you.
